Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identify elements of social capital in poor villages in forest areas. The contradiction between the success of the Desa Mandiri Pangan programme and the increase in the number of pre prosperous families in Tempuran Village is interesting to explore. Through social capital trying to explain the contradiction. With a qualitative case study method to analyze social capital in poverty alleviation. The results showed that trusts in the affinity group were in the form of; credibility, openness, honesty, and no harm to others. The difference in trust conditions in the sub-villages of Tepusan and Krajan has an impact on the existence of affinity groups and the development of livestock cultivation as a capital for poverty alleviation. The norm elements in the affinity group are the obligation to attend meetings, sustainable livestock revolving, social sanctions, social concerns and sincerity. Tepusan villagers more profitable from the existence of goats revolving in accordance with the norms governing affinity group activities. Forms of social networks in the affinity group are: regular meetings, jimpitan, patron clients, corn farmers, bakul goats. The networks in the affinity group can be useful in alleviating poverty in the Tempuran village. Keywords: trust, norms, networks, poverty alleviation.
